ANet's prioritization of how dramatic battles are has been slipping. In ways GW:EN is supposed to be the grand closure, but I found fighting an exiled God more dramatic than a bunch of destruction-crazed whatchamahoozits.

Well, after playing the Evil God card, they were always going to have trouble topping it...
The difference, of course, is that we never faced a free Abaddon - he was still half-defeated by the other gods at the time we arrived, we just acted as a long-delayed executioner. Maybe the Gods just didn't have a suitable candidate to take over his power when they took him down originally.
The Destroyer, on the other hand - while not as powerful as Abaddon, it's still more powerful (at least in theory) than the other Big Bads such as Shiro and the Lich, and unlike Abaddon we're facing its full power rather than a restrained version.

I was very dissapointed @ the shown "Destroyer" at end of eotn. I expected it to be the Dragon. but sadly no.
I think we just got shown the nemesis in GW2, as i love evil dragons, I'll get Gw2 if it is xD
As far as power i think (highest to lowest) -
Abaddon.
Destroyer.
Lich.
Shiro.

The new PCG Guild Wars issue has some info on Guild Wars 2 lore in it and a poster over on GWO managed to post a summary of some of the details. It appears this dragon is one of the awakened dragons and has a name - Primordus.
This Dragon is controlling the undead which walk upon the newly risen Orr (which happend to cause a Tsunami in the process of rising, destroying Lions Arch, submergeing the Battle Illse and cutting off access to Cantha)
The way the poster said it, it looks like Primordus was actually set back due to us defeating the Great Destroyer. So this thing looks like its going to cause more trouble than previous foes.

That could explain the hints that humanity was in a bad way for GW2 - It seems all the disasters caused by Abaddon's manipulations are reverting themselves (note references in the EOTN manual about the Jade Sea beginning to thaw, for example) but that doesn't mean that it isn't causing trouble in the process. Meanwhile, Elona has Palawa, and we know he's not going to keep sitting around biding his time once the GW1 heroes die off. Especially if the Crystal Sea is refilled... possibly by the same tsunami.
It is interesting that this Primordus has control over the undead of Orr, especially considering who used to be in charge of them. I wonder of Primordus is for Abaddon as Glint was for the other gods, or is it just filling a power vacuum?
Or, as a piece of wild speculation - maybe the various nasty gribblies waking up were originally put to sleep by Abaddon, and (whether deliberately on his part or simply a case of the enchantments unravelling on his death) they're acting as a kind of doomsday revenge weapon. It might actually explain why the other gods left him for us to deal with - being able to destroy Abaddon may in fact have essentially been part of the test on whether there were mortal heroes powerful enough to destroy them.
It's just a shame that apart from the Great Destroyer, the others were canny enough to wait until all those mortal heroes died off before striking...

Yes it does appear the humans are in a pretty bad state in GW2.Also according to the summary Palawa has conquered all of Elona and cut it off from Tyria (Cantha and Elona have their own worries it would seem)
Also another summery (in the thread linked to above) Primordus can shape creatures with his breath and give them life.He is also one of the first Dragons to awaken. I find it interesting that this thing has the power to create.

I don't understand the argument that the great destroyer isn't the great destroyer because he was to easy.I mean, how hard was abadon?and that dude was a god.shiro and the lich where walks in the park too,and i never heard rumors that we didn't defeat shiro because it was in fact his twin sister.

Yes the mural in Shard of Orr caught my interest aswell. it has the same spike on the bottom of its mouth and a horn on its nose along with the same red eye. This is most likely Primordus or the other dragon below Orr.

Shiro and the Lich were not shown as a huge threat to the world. Abaddon was chained down at probably at only half his power. All the way through Eye of the North it becomes apparent that the Great Destroyer is a very powerful entity along with its Destroyers. When we get there the only thing remotely powerful there is the environment its standing in. Now its apparent that the Great Destroyer was just a minion to Primordus and by letting it live we would of cast Tyria into hell sooner. So the Great Destroyer wasnt powerful but the thing it was awakening was, therefore the Great Destroyer was a big threat.

That said, it really does devalue the Great Dwarf. The being your race worships and your entire race was apparently created to fight was... a second-rate demonic lieutenant that can be taken out in its own place of power by eight humans?

If there are 3 dragons restrained/hidden in EOTN, could it be that they r brothers/sisters that have awakened to destroy the world and the 1 in TGD room is the most powerful and the other 2 being slightly weaker but still strong?
ie; Kill one, it gets harder, kill 2nd, gets even harder, then finally you kill the last dragon.

Maybe we'll have to get the staff back from Livia and perform a ritual to summon the gods back to Tyria, and they will have a massive showdown with the dragons for final rule of the world...

Well they don't look totally the same. It could be a depiction of the dragon sleeping under Orr?
